Everyone has their own truth, what is yours? In Search of the Truth is an interactive project comprised of a touring, giant inflatable speech bubble – video recording booth – traveling the world…In Search of The Truth.

“The truth is…”.

Question Bridge is a multimedia exhibition that fosters honest expression and healing dialogue. First, one person asks a question looking into camera, as if they are talking directly to another person. Later, another person responds by talking directly into a camera. This question-answer exchange makes people more comfortable expressing their deeply held feelings on topics that divide, unite, and puzzle.

For Freedoms is an artist collective that centers art and creativity as a catalyst for transformative connection and collective liberation. By wielding the power of art, they aim to deepen and expand our capacity to interrogate what is and imagine what could be.

The Wide Awakes believe art has the power to wake people up. Artists are always at the vanguard of social change, and art is a tool to educate, motivate, and activate our citizenry, inspire us, open our hearts and minds, and transform our lives.

Formed in 2014, The Writing on the Wall is housed within the fabric of the radically imaginative justice work of Incarceration Nations Network (INN): a global network and think tank that supports and popularizes innovative prison reform efforts around the world. 

The Gun Violence Memorial Project creates space to gather, remember, and act in light of the ongoing gun violence crisis. A collaboration between Boston-based MASS Design Group and Hank Willis Thomas, in partnership with the gun violence prevention organization Purpose Over Pain, the project was launched at the 2019 Chicago Architecture Biennale. It comprises four glass houses, each built of 700 clear bricks, a reference to the average number of gun deaths every week in the United States. 

Presented by Art Production Fund and Rockefeller Center, this Art in Focus exhibition brings Hank Willis Thomas's work into the public spaces of Rockefeller Center, including 45, 30, 50, 10, and 1 Rockefeller Plaza, from July 6 through October 6, 2026. The presentation features richly patterned quilts made from sports jerseys alongside sculpture drawing on athletic imagery and symbolism.

For ART OF THE GAME, presented by ARTS 14C, Hank Willis-Thomas and twenty-two other artists were invited to reimagine this global icon as monumental public sculpture in celebration of the 2026 World Cup.

From June 11 to September 7, 2026, these six-foot works will transform public spaces across New York City and New Jersey, inviting us to gather, look closer, and remember that the game has always been bigger than the game.

An inspiring campaign with For Freedoms, Iranian artists Sheida Soleimani, Aphrodite Désirée Navab, Z, Icy and Sot, Shirin Neshat, Mahvash Mostala, Sepideh Mehraban, and Shirin Towfiq, alongside Hank Willis Thomas and JR, activated New York’s FDR Four Freedoms State Park with a provocative multi-day and multi-media art installation facing the United Nations entitled Eyes on Iran.

Timed for the U.N. Women’s initiative, 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, the large-scale artworks were unveiled on November 28th. ‘Eyes in the Sky’ flying billboards featuring artworks by Hank Willis Thomas and Mahvash flew on December 3rd in NYC. In addition, an interactive installation by artist JR took place on December 4th at FDR Four Freedoms State Park.

For Freedoms News is a news program as well as a live art installation, performance, and conversation from the For Freedoms ecosystem for creative civic participation in advance of the 2022 midterm elections. The artist-led reimagining of television news was presented during a residency at the Brooklyn Museum in the fall of 2022.

Three years ago, hopeful at the possibility of expanding the nuance in how media reports issues important to our communities, For Freedoms came up with the idea of starting its own artist-run media channel. When the Brooklyn Museum invited us to be in residence during the lead-up to the midterms, we rushed to make it happen.

In collaboration with Hank Willis Thomas Studio, Sacai celebrates those who have broken the rules to defy society’s expectations, regardless of race, culture or gender. No matter who or where you are in life, you can always apply #LOVEOVERRULES. The collection is presented in a powerful two-part campaign created by Hank and Equator Productions, focusing on community through portrait photography and film. A handful of artists were invited, including jazz trumpeter Keyon Harrold; movement artist Mizuho Kappa; artist Zoë Buckman; designer and advocate Celine Semaan Vernon; jazz pianist Jason Moran; and artist and activist Chella Man, as well as Thomas himself and his wife, curator Rujeko Hockley. In the campaign film, the participants shared what "Love Over Rules" means to them.

In collaboration with Hank Willis Thomas Studio, Helmut Lang has developed a new ready-to-wear capsule harnessed by two phrases, “It’s All About You” and “It’s Not About You.” Taken from Hank’s lenticular text-based work he produced in 2010, the clothes attempt to mimic the way the phrase switches from one to the other depending on where you’re standing, therefore changing what you see. Helmut Lang achieves this by making clothes from a special sheer mesh fabric that constructs hoodies, tops, and dresses that have been printed with the phrases on the front and on the reverse of the inside, which is a nod to Helmut Lang’s SS04 Reverse Cowboy T-Shirt. They’re semi-transparent, meaning each piece is a statement in itself aside from the lenticular words printed on to them. Fifteen percent of the proceeds from the collection will be donated to Incarceration Nations Network, “a think-tank that concentrates on innovative prison reform efforts around the world.”
